Two ads from 1944:



  


Late in 1944, with the end of World War 2 seemingly in sight, industries in America began to give some thought to changing from a war economy to a consumer one.

Two different companies came up with the same advertising concept to point out the upcoming conversion - an update on "They shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more," from The Bible, Old Testament, Isaiah ii.
